Welcome to Care To Talk

A peer-to-peer mental health group within the Wakefield District, UK

Care to Talk is a peer-to-peer mental health group that assists adults dealing with low to moderate-level mental health issues that negatively impact their daily life and well-being. We meetings in Pontefract and aim to expand our services throughout the Five Towns within the Wakefield District, UK.

What is peer-to-peer support?

Peer-to-peer mental health support refers to a form of assistance or care where individuals with shared or similar mental health challenges provide support and understanding to one another. It has proven benefits and can often prevent a worsening of mental health issues in many people. People who have experienced mental health issues offer support to others who are going through similar struggles. We have regular meetings and aim to expand this successful model to other arts of Wakefield and beyond.

Care to Talk meet up

“I would recommend Care to Talk to anyone as it’s a great support group and makes members feel wanted.”

“It helped me forget all my stresses in my life by the amount of distraction and laughter there is there.”

“Through Care to Talk, I managed to get part-time employment and keep it for two years. I have learnt coping strategies and really enjoy coming to the group.”

“It’s not the sort of group where you have to sit in a circle and talk about your life, but rather you can sit and do relaxing activities whilst just conversing with members about anything you wish.”

“I would definitely recommend this group to new starters. Joanne is very caring and understanding and always asks each one of us if we are okay.”

Care To Talk meet ups

We are a social based support group that meets every week, we pride ourselves on our belief that poor mental health is not always ‘one size fits all’ and as such everyone is welcomed as an individual in their own right. We are non-judgemental and all give support to one another.

Classes, Talks and Trips Out
